We’re Not Meant to Live in Overdrive

Fellas,

Lately, I’ve been thinking about how easy it is for us to get used to running at full speed.

At one point, that’s all I knew.

I was stuck in autopilot — especially during my years in corporate.

Wake up already thinking about everything you’ve got to handle.

Pulled in ten different directions before lunch.

Never feeling like you’re caught up.

You tell yourself it’s just “life,” but deep down, you can feel it wearing you down.

I remember a time when I couldn’t sit still.

Even in a quiet house, I’d find something to do — check emails, scroll my phone, pick up a task that didn’t matter.

I thought it was being productive.

The truth? I didn’t know how to be still.

My body was trained to stay ready, like I was waiting for something to go wrong.

Living that way is exhausting.

It robs you of presence.

It keeps you from enjoying the life you’ve worked for.

The wild thing is… most of us don’t even notice until burnout sets in.

This is why I talk about the nervous system so much.

When it’s stuck in high-alert mode, nothing else works the way it should.

Workouts feel flat.

Your mind stays foggy.

Patience runs thin.

And we keep moving, thinking motion is the fix — when what we really need is to slow down.

Next week, I’ll share some of the simple ways I reset mine daily — nothing complicated, just practical things that work.

For now, just notice.

When you get a quiet moment today… can you sit in it?

Or do you feel that pull to do something?

If you do, that might be your body telling you it’s been on high alert for too long.

Stay grounded,
Keshaun
